Re: Steve Coogan - Genius
Armando Iannucci is a genius, Coogan can be funny although I would say he's not reallt relevant anymore. As a man Coogan is slimy prick I agree with Mentor on that.

Re: Steve Coogan - Genius
I think Partridge is timeless - I can't imagine a time where that won't be funny. I'd put I'm Alan Partridge up with Fawlty Towers as a comedy classic of near perfection.

Exactly Egg, if anything Gervais HASN'T been dining out on Brent for years.

Extras is seriously underrated too. I've been watching it again lately and it's brilliant.

Re: Steve Coogan - Genius
Gervais has had major success with Extras, Derek and the Karl Pilkington stuff since then?

Re: Steve Coogan - Genius
The Partridge character was pure genius and created a completely undiscovered niche in the comedy market at the time

I also respect the fact Coogan chose not to dine out on the character like Gervais has for years now, superb comic

Re: Steve Coogan - Genius
Alan Partridge is genius so therefore Coogan is a genius. He's had some other great characters too. The Gareth Cheeseman episode in Coogans Run was brilliant as was Paul Calf for a while.

Peter Kay is also another man who was probably influenced by coogan.

from another interview

Of her brief fling with the 47-year-old actor and comedian, she adds: “All it was, was a couple of shags at the Sunset Marquis [hotel in Los Angeles,] and I did not know he was Alan Partridge. I thought he was Tony Wilson in 24 Hour Party People – somebody I’d always had a daddy thing for. I had never seen Alan Partridge. But I was in a band with people who did know about Alan Partridge, so I had to make a record with them constantly saying to me: 'Back of the net!’”

Re: Steve Coogan - Genius
Alan Partridge yes defo and I like his show with Rob Brydon too. Apparently he can write very well too did a film with Judi Dench that he wrote i am not a big fan of most of his Hollywood films though Genius may be over the top but a brilliant comedy actor i would say yes.

Re: Steve Coogan - Genius

How did he bizarrely shag her?

Some sort of unconventional positioning?

Eggbert Nobacon 1:33 Tue Dec 9
Re: Steve Coogan - Genius

Re: Steve Coogan - Genius
Sky Atlantic have a 2 part documentary about a recent tour he did in Australia. Really, really good show, if you can find it.

Alan Partridge might be the finest comedy character ever created.
